If you have never heard of the festival, its origins trace back to a folk festival planned 50 years ago for Bradford-on-Avon Tithe Barn, but due to last-minute council changes, it found a home at the Village Pump Folk Club at The Lamb Inn in Trowbridge in 1974. As it grew, it moved to Stowford Manor Farm in 1980, hosting acts like Johnny Silvo, Diz Disley, and Henry Davis. By its 10th anniversary, it featured popular entertainers like Fred Wedlock and the Maddy Prior Band. Over the years, big names such as Bob Geldof, Levellers, The Waterboys and The Proclaimers graced its stages. In the 80s and into the 2000s was one of the UKs top music festivals. After facing setbacks, including a 2011 cancellation and a short move to Westbury, the festival returned to Stowford Manor Farm in 2018 under the “Trowbridge Festival” name. Despite pandemic struggles, it found a new home at Greenhill Fields Southwick in 2023, welcoming back many festivalgoers after a nearly five-year gap since the last full festival with camping.
